Shopify Pricing in Cyprus: What Your Store Really Costs
Plan your Shopify budget in Cyprus: subscriptions, payment fees, apps, development and first-year cost examples, with a checklist for comparing quotes.
By Muflon

Your Shopify budget has four main parts: the subscription, payment fees, apps and services, and the work needed to build and maintain the store. The advertised monthly plan covers only one of them.
For a Cyprus merchant, start by confirming the price and billing cycle offered to your own store, then add a realistic payment mix, delivery process and implementation scope. Shopify Payments is available in Cyprus, subject to eligibility and verification; you do not automatically need an external payment gateway. Shopify's Cyprus documentation confirms availability.
This guide separates published prices from illustrative budgets, so you can compare quotes without mistaking a promotional subscription or a developer's starting price for the full cost of operating an e-shop.

Shopify plan prices: a useful reference, with the region made clear
Shopify changes its pricing display by market. The following EUR figures are published on Shopify's Ireland pricing page and are a regional budgeting reference, not a verified offer for a particular Cyprus account. Confirm your Cyprus store's price, tax treatment and billing currency in Shopify before committing.
| Plan | Monthly billing reference | Monthly equivalent with yearly billing | Yearly subscription at that reference rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | €32 | €24 | €288 |
| Grow | €92 | €69 | €828 |
| Advanced | €384 | €289 | €3,468 |
Source: Shopify's published EUR plan comparison. Promotional offers are excluded. An annual plan's monthly equivalent is not a promise of monthly payments: budget for the annual commitment.
As a starting point, Basic suits an owner-operated store; Grow adds capacity for a small team; Advanced is worth evaluating when its additional features or rate differences solve a specific requirement. Check the current feature comparison rather than upgrading because the plan name sounds more established. Plus needs a separate commercial and technical assessment.
Shopify supports EUR billing for EU merchants. Some charges can still involve currency conversion, so an EUR subscription does not make every app or service a fixed EUR expense. See Shopify's local-currency billing explanation.
Separate card processing from Shopify transaction fees
These are different charges, and confusing them can materially understate your costs.
Payment processing fees pay for handling the payment. Rates can depend on the plan, card type and payment method. Use the rates available to your Cyprus store rather than copying a US card rate from an international guide.
Shopify third-party transaction fees can apply in addition to an external payment provider's processing fees. Shopify documents exemptions and other special cases; do not assume that every payment method is treated identically. Payments processed through Shopify Payments are exempt from this particular third-party fee, but processing charges still apply. Check Shopify's transaction-fee rules.
For a simple estimate, split sales by payment method and calculate each part separately:
Processing cost = processed sales × percentage rate + number of payments × fixed fee.
For illustration only, €10,000 processed through one method across 200 payments at an assumed 2% + €0.25 would cost €250. That is arithmetic using a hypothetical rate, not a quoted Cyprus processing rate. Add any applicable platform transaction fee, conversion costs and other charges separately.
Remember that the amount processed can include shipping and tax. Using only product revenue in the calculation can understate the bill. Review actual settlement reports once the shop is trading.
What you pay to build the store
The platform subscription and the implementation project are separate purchases. Two developers can quote different amounts because they are delivering different work.
A tightly scoped launch might use an existing theme, a small prepared catalogue, one language and simple delivery rules. A more involved project can include content preparation, a bespoke design, migration from another platform, bilingual content, wholesale requirements or connections to stock and accounting systems.
Ask the proposal to separate these work packages:
- Store structure and design: page types, navigation, theme configuration and custom sections.
- Catalogue and content: product count, variants, photography, descriptions and translations.
- Checkout and delivery: payment configuration, delivery zones, collection options and test orders.
- Connections: stock, accounting, fulfilment, email and any custom business system.
- Migration: product import, URL mapping, redirects and verification of transferred data.
- Launch and handover: device checks, staff training, access ownership and post-launch support.
A product import is not the same as writing the product descriptions. Installing an app is not the same as proving that orders and stock reconcile correctly. Those distinctions make quotes comparable.
If you are evaluating the implementation scope, our e-shop development service is the relevant starting point. Choose a build around how your shop sells and fulfils orders, then price that scope.
Apps, integrations and maintenance: budget for the work after launch
For each proposed app, ask what requirement it serves, whether the platform already covers it and how its charges grow. A small monthly fee can become significant when several apps overlap or charge by usage.
Shopify distinguishes recurring, usage-based and one-time charges. App billing can follow a different cycle from the store subscription. That makes a single month's platform invoice an incomplete view of your annual budget. Shopify's billing guide explains these categories.
For a Cyprus shop selling locally and abroad, specify delivery rules before choosing tools: local collection, domestic courier delivery, international destinations, parcel weights and returns. Use actual courier quotes and expected order volumes. A low store subscription cannot compensate for an unworkable delivery margin.
Stock integration also deserves its own scope. Decide which system owns the stock figure, how updates travel, what happens during an outage and who handles exceptions. For more on that architecture, see our guide to e-shop and ERP integration.
Maintenance should name the work included: theme changes, app compatibility checks, integration monitoring, content support and incident response. Platform hosting and a developer's support agreement serve different needs.
Three first-year Shopify budget examples
The examples below show how to build a budget, not what Muflon or the Cyprus market charges. Implementation, apps and support are invented planning allowances; subscription amounts use the Ireland annual-price reference above. Replace them with your Cyprus account price and written supplier quotes.
The lean example assumes an owner-managed store with prepared content. The supported example adds more design and ongoing assistance. The integrated example adds more implementation and support work, but still assumes Grow; integrations alone do not automatically require Advanced.
| Fixed budget item | Lean launch | Supported store | Integrated operation |
|---|---|---|---|
| One-time implementation allowance | €1,500 | €4,000 | €8,000 |
| Annual subscription reference | €288 | €828 | €828 |
| Apps: assumed monthly cost × 12 | €20 × 12 = €240 | €80 × 12 = €960 | €150 × 12 = €1,800 |
| Domain allowance per year | €20 | €20 | €20 |
| Theme allowance, one time | €0 | €300 | €300 |
| Support: assumed monthly cost × 12 | €0 | €100 × 12 = €1,200 | €250 × 12 = €3,000 |
| First-year fixed subtotal | €2,048 | €7,308 | €13,948 |
These are fixed software and implementation subtotals, not complete business costs. They exclude payment processing, applicable platform transaction fees, tax, currency conversion, courier charges, returns, stock, advertising and owner/staff time. Content production beyond the assumed build scope is also excluded. Zero paid support in the lean case means the owner handles the work, not that no work exists.
To extend the supported-store example, assume €10,000 in processed payments and 200 payments each month at the hypothetical rate used earlier. That adds €250 × 12 = €3,000, taking the fixed subtotal plus illustrative processing to €10,308. The other excluded costs still need to be added.
Run a low-sales and a higher-sales case. Apps, support and payment costs may change with volume; a single optimistic forecast can hide the pressure on margins during the first few months.
When does a more expensive plan pay for itself?
Upgrade for a feature you need or a saving you can calculate. If the only difference you are evaluating is a lower percentage processing rate, use:
Break-even eligible monthly sales = extra monthly subscription cost ÷ reduction in the percentage fee expressed as a decimal.
Suppose an upgrade costs an extra €45 per month and reduces the relevant rate by 0.2 percentage points. €45 ÷ 0.002 = €22,500 in eligible monthly processed sales. These are hypothetical inputs, not a claim about the current difference between Shopify plans.
The comparison assumes identical fixed per-payment fees and that all the sales in the calculation qualify for the rate reduction. With a mixed payment profile, calculate each method separately. A feature that saves substantial staff time can justify an upgrade earlier, but document that benefit rather than treating it as automatic.
What to ask before accepting a Shopify quote
Use the same brief for each supplier. Ask for written answers to these questions:
- Which products, pages, languages and integrations are included?
- Who supplies and uploads the content, and how many revision rounds are included?
- Which paid themes and apps are required, and who pays their ongoing bills?
- What payment and delivery scenarios will be tested before launch?
- If we are moving a store, who owns the redirects and data checks?
- Who owns the store account, domain and other supplier accounts?
- What support is included after launch, and how are further changes priced?
If an operational requirement needs custom software, price it separately from the storefront. You may keep Shopify for commerce and connect a tailored internal tool. For customer workflows in particular, our custom CRM software guide explains how to evaluate that decision.
Common questions about Shopify pricing in Cyprus
Can a Cyprus business use Shopify Payments?
Yes, Shopify documents support for Cyprus. Eligibility, verification and supported business activities still apply. Check those requirements before making the payment configuration part of a fixed launch promise.
Is the advertised subscription the total cost of the store?
No. Add payment charges, any paid apps, domain costs and the work needed to launch and operate the shop. Keep advertising, inventory and delivery in the wider business budget too.
Do I need a developer to launch?
An owner can configure a straightforward store if they have the time and the required content. Development becomes useful when design, migration, integrations or operational requirements exceed that scope. Compare the value of the work with the cost of doing it yourself.
Should I choose Shopify or a fully custom e-shop?
Choose against your actual requirements. Shopify can be a practical foundation for standard commerce. A custom store deserves consideration when essential workflows or customer experiences do not fit the platform economically. Compare implementation, operation and future changes on both sides; neither route is automatically cheaper.
